Ekhos
Ekhos is an AR app that personifies the expressive movements of city dwellers, giving them life as moving digital sculptures within our shared urban space.
Each sculpture, or ‘Ekho’, embodies the unique characteristics its contributor, fostering a deep connection to our surroundings, inspiring physical self-expression and building community.
A Unique Performance
Players locate an Ekho through a map of the city with pinpoint accuracy thanks to the Visual Positioning System feature of the Niantic Lightship ARDK.
Here, anyone can view the Ekho and choose to contribute to it using their own kinaesthetics.
Carving a physical line in space using their phone, their drawing creates a movement signature that feeds the Ekho, defining its aesthetics, movement, and soundscape.
A Human Experience
'Ekhos' allows players to bring virtual beings to life using their physical movements. To start, players open the Ekhos app and view a map locating different Ekhos.
Each Ekho has a unique name, soundscape, and magnitude - based on player contributions. To contribute, players find the nearest Ekho, activate AR mode, and start dancing. The Ekho will mimic the player's movements and turn them into a multisensory performance. Ekhos is an innovative use of AR technology for artistic self-expression and body movement. The world is your stage!
